What you can search for

Cities, towns, hamlets, localities, passes, viewpoints, mountain huts, bivouacs, picnic areas, drinking fountains, fuel stations and rest areas. The most important results come first: cities, towns, villages and passes sit above minor places.

Where: on the home screen tap "Where shall we ride?". The same search opens from the ride fields: start, destination, stops, end of the loop, overnight stop of a trip.

Home screen: map of Liguria and, at the bottom, "Where shall we ride?" with Ride somewhere, Loop, Nearby and Trip.
The home screen: search starts from "Where shall we ride?".
Search for "vare" with no connection: Varese Ligure, Varella, Vareggina and fuel stations with straight-line distance.
Type "vare": towns, hamlets and fuel stations, with straight-line distance.

How to type

  • The start of each word is enough: "pas bra" finds "Passo del Bracco". Every word you type must be there.
  • Accents, apostrophes and punctuation do not matter: "forli" also finds "Forlì".
  • "My location" sits at the top of the list: GPS works with no signal too.
  • If you downloaded several regions, search looks in all of them and removes duplicates near the borders.

If nothing matches, the app says so and suggests trying the nearest town.

Points of interest on the map

The map can show viewpoints, mountain huts, bivouacs, drinking fountains, fuel stations and passes. Switch them on and off from the ☰ menu or Settings › Appearance › "Points of interest on the map". The choice applies to planning and riding, and is saved.

To find castles, villages and museums less than an hour away, use What's nearby.

Photos of places

Many point-of-interest cards, in search and in "Nearby", have a photo of the place.

What's nearby, Villages filter: Biassa 8 min, Fezzano 9 min, Valeriano, San Terenzo and Pitelli 11 min, each with a photo and a line giving the author and licence.
Photos in "Nearby", with author and licence.
  • They are freely licensed photos from Wikimedia Commons, only under CC0, public domain, CC BY or CC BY-SA.
  • They come with the region's map: you see them offline too.
  • Under the photo you read the author and licence: "Photo: author, licence". The link to the photo's Commons page only opens with a connection.
  • Not every place has a photo: only where Commons has one under a free licence.

What it does not do

  • It does not search street names or house numbers: it searches places and points of interest.
  • It only finds what is in the downloaded regions. There are no maps outside Italy.
  • Towns are searchable but are not drawn as icons on the map.
  • It does not load photos from the internet: if the region's map has none, the card has none.
